Falstaff Trophy Vino Nobile

An exceptional accomplishment for our Nobile Santa Caterina 2016, which comes first at the Falstaff Trophy

On the eve of Vinitaly 2019, we received the exciting news direct from the creators of Falstaff, Othmar Kiem and Simon Staffler, that our Santa Caterina, Vino Nobile from the 2016 vintage, had won first place in the Vino Nobile Trophy.

The Trophy is an annual competition announced by the prestigious German journal, where the authors compare wines from the same appellation or category. In the May 2019 issue, they examined all levels and vintages of Vino Nobile di Montepulciano.

Well, our Vino Nobile Santa Caterina came first in the rankings, with 94 points and this comment: “Bright ruby red, an open and inviting nose with rich notes of raspberry, cherry, delicate violet and white pepper; hints of salt, on the palate it is very juicy and clean, spreading with tight-knit, savoury and clean tannins at the finish, an excellent Sangiovese!”

And that’s not all: in addition, our Vino Nobile Simposio Riserva 2015 earned 92 points in the same ranking, taking its place among the best wines in the Montepulciano appellation.
